Loveyapa Box Office Collection Day 1: Khushi Kapoor-Junaid Khan's Debut Film Starts Slow
Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan made their big-screen debut with Loveyapa, which hit theatres on February 7. Directed by Advait Chandan, this romantic comedy opened to a lukewarm response, collecting just Rs 1.25 crore nett in India on its first day, according to Sacnilk.
The film was screened in approximately 2,300 shows nationwide, with an overall occupancy of 9.56%. In major cities, Mumbai had 404 shows, while the National Capital Region (NCR) hosted 589 shows.
A remake of the hit 2022 Tamil film Love Today, Loveyapa faced tough competition from Himesh Reshammiya’s action-packed Badass Ravikumar, which had a stronger opening, raking in Rs 2.75 crore across 2,200 shows.
The movie features a talented ensemble cast, including Grusha Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Tanvika Parlikar, Kiku Sharda, Devishi Mandan, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Nikhil Mehta, Jason Tham, Yusus Khan, Yuktam Kholsa, and Kunj Anand.
Plot Overview
Loveyapa follows a young couple whose relationship is put to the test when the girl’s sceptical father challenges them to swap phones for 24 hours before marriage. The original Tamil version, directed by Pradeep Ranganathan, was a massive hit, earning Rs 83.55 crore worldwide on a modest Rs 6 crore budget. However, the Hindi remake reportedly has a much higher budget of Rs 60 crore, making its slow start a concern for the filmmakers.
With mixed reviews and stiff competition, Loveyapa will need strong word-of-mouth and weekend momentum to pick up at the box office. Will it manage to turn things around? Only time will tell!
